Frances Sanderson

Waynesville-Frances Auberry Sanderson, 83, died Thursday, August 9, 2007. She fought a courageous and commendable battle with cancer for several years. She was a native of Hayesville, NC and was preceded in death by her husband, James Sanderson; an infant son, Jerry Allen Sanderson; her parents, Andrew and Lillie Hampton Auberry; and her brother, Horace Auberry. She is survived by her beloved children, Judith Smith and her husband, J.C., of Clyde; Perry Sanderson and his wife, Wanda, of Hendersonville, and Jeffrey Sanderson and his wife, Teresa, of Sylva. Also, she leaves her adored grandchildren: Jay Smith and his wife, Patty, of Charlotte; Josh Sanderson and his wife, Khara, of Hendersonville and Jake Sanderson of Sylva; two sisters, Kathryn Arrant and her husband, Lomar, of Lake Junaluska and Edith Ramsey of Murphy; and many nieces and nephews. Frances was retired from Wellco Enterprises. Her hobbies were flower and vegetable gardening, quilting, photography, baking cakes, and trying new recipes. She was passionate about Christmas decorating and selfless gift giving to her friends in celebration of her Lord's birth. She was a member of the Francis Cove Methodist Church where she was former president of the Women's Methodist Union. During her illness, she was blessed with visits, correspondence, and gifts by her many friends and relatives. Frances and her family greatly appreciated this support during the difficult times. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2007 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Brian Combs and Reverend Terry Rowland officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Methodist Church Cemetery in Hayesville, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home.
