Frances Swanger

Frances "Shorty" Lucille Snyder Swanger, age 91, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2014, at Smoky Mountain Health & Rehabilitation Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Wiley Pearson and Hazel Mae Rhodarmer Snyder. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy F. Swanger who died on January 17, 1992; two sisters, Evelyn Swann and Ruth S. Jones; and a nephew, Roger Norris. She was a dedicated member of Clyde Central United Methodist Church. Frances loved to dance and was a talented clogger and devoted member of the Pisgah Cloggers and Pisgah Promenaders Western Dance Club. She is survived by a niece, Verba Norris of Clyde and a great nephew, John Norris of Salt Lake City, Utah. Due to the weather funeral services are rescheduled for Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Daniel Gaddy and James Hart officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clyde Central United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 8, Clyde, NC 28721.
