Frances Taylor

October 10, 1918 — October 23, 2003

Waynesville-Frances Liner Williams Taylor, age 85, of Park Place Condominiums, died Thursday, October 23, 2003 at the Mountain Area Hospice Solace Center in Asheville.

A native and life long resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late George Washington and Mary Adeline Norris Liner. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Jimmie Newman Williams, who died in 1990; two sisters, Hilda Woodard and Nan Reeves; and a grandson, William Boone Ferguson. She and her first husband were the co-owners of Charlie's Restaurant from 1953 - 1970. They also owned and operated the Heath Lodge from 1970 - 1976, and were also co-owners of the Oak Park Motor Inn for several years until their retirement. Mrs. Taylor had a strong Christian faith and until her illness was an active member of First Baptist Church of Waynesville and a member of the Serendipity Sunday School Class. She held various positions within her church and had also served in Lay Witness mission work.

She is survived by her husband of eleven years, J. Euel Taylor; three daughters, Patty Ferguson and her husband, Rick, of Spruce Pine, Peggy Elmore and her husband, Larry, of Charlotte, and Elaine Thompson of Waynesville; one son, Stan Williams, and his wife, Jouliette, of Raleigh; two stepsons, Joe E. Taylor and his wife, Carolyn, and W. Randy Taylor, both of Waynesville; and six grandchildren, Heath Woods, Robert Ferguson, Jacob, Jade, and Adam Williams, and David Elmore.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2003 in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Waynesville, with Reverend Dr. Robert Prince and Reverend David Reeves officiating. Burial will follow at Garret-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in the chapel at First Baptist Church of Waynesville from 1:00 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Members of the Serendipity Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
