Francisco Javier Duràn Rios

Francisco Javier Duràn Rios, a beloved husband, father, son, and brother, passed away on December 21, 2023. Born on November 13, 1975.

From an early age, Francisco showed an affinity for craftsmanship and creativity. He pursued his passion for carpentry with unwavering determination and became known for his exceptional skills. His proudest accomplishments lie in the homes he built with meticulous attention to detail, leaving a lasting impression on those who were fortunate enough to inhabit them.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Francisco had an infectious sense of humor that brightened the lives of all who knew him. As a practical jokester, he would often bring joy to family gatherings by sharing his knack for lighthearted pranks. His mischievous spirit and quick wit never failed to create laughter and fond memories.

When not working with wood or playing pranks, Francisco could be found spending time with his beloved family. He shared an unbreakable bond with his wife of 26 years, Patricia Contreras. Together they created a nurturing home filled with love and laughter. Francisco's children Laura Duràn, Miranda Duràn, Jonathan Duràn, and John Duràn were his pride and joy. He provided them with unwavering support and guidance throughout their lives.

Francisco was also deeply connected to his parents, Francisco Javier Duràn Rios Sr. and Maria Rios Torres. Their love and encouragement shaped him into the compassionate man he became. Additionally, he leaves behind six sisters and three brothers.  Francisco took great delight in being a grandfather to his grandsons, Alexander Duràn and Asher Sanchez. They filled his days with joy and brought an undeniable sparkle to his eyes. His love for them knew no bounds, and he cherished the moments they shared together.

As we bid farewell to Francisco Javier Duràn Rios today, let us not mourn the loss of an exceptional individual, but instead celebrate the rich tapestry of life he wove. Francisco's warm smile, kind heart, and unwavering dedication to those he loved will forever remain etched in our memories. He approached each day with a zest for life that inspired all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2023, at the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Father Paul McNulty officiating.  Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.  Burial will be held in Francisco’s home place of Mexico. 

The care of Francisco has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
