Frank Baker

Waynesville, NC-Frank "Kip" Baker, age 58, of Cedarwood Drive, died November 28, 2004 at home. A long-time resident of Western North Carolina, Kip had an enduring love of the mountains, forests, and wildlife. He was a devoted naturalist, an artist, a carpenter, and a jokester. He loved fishing, hiking, gardening, cooking, music, animals, and most of all, his family. The son of the late Frank and Gloria McCall Baker, he is survived by two daughters, Dia and Jesse, and a son Jason; four grandchildren, Alyssabeth, Aaron, Emma and Aurelia; two sisters, Tina and Pam; his brother, Bill; and his closest friend, Donna Surles. He was a US Army veteran and a member of Waynesville's Grace Church of the Mountains. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, December 4, 2004 at Grace Episcopal Church in the Mountains with Reverend Howard White, Jr. officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy, c/o 34 Wall Street, Suite 802, Asheville, NC 28801 (www.appalachian.org).
