Clyde-Frank Cecil "Pop" Bryant, age 70, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Monday, July 2, 2007. A native of Bulls Gap, Tennessee, he had resided in Haywood County for more than 45 years. He was the son of the late Theodore R. Bryant and Emma Sue Reagan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, J.T. "Lefty" Bryant. He was an employee of Lowe's and retired in September 2006 and attended Emmanuel Baptist Church. Frank was instrumental in starting Little League baseball in the Crabtree Community, along with his co- coach Buddy Noland. He was known for his charming wit and humor and was known to have never met a stranger. Frank loved to fish and especially loved to coach, play and watch baseball, softball, and football. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Judy Teague Bryant, a registered nurse; one daughter, Sharon Ruth Messer and her husband, Steve "C.L." of the Cove Creek Community; three sons, Aaron Bryant and his wife, Kim, of Lviv, Ukraine, Naamon Bryant and his fiancé, Rhonda Hambrick of Waynesville, and Jason Bryant and his wife, Melonie, of Canton; one sister, Betty Kennedy of Selma, NC; two brothers, Charles Bryant of Clyde and Robert Bryant of Raleigh; and seven grandchildren, Jessica, Cody, Adam, and Christian Bryant, Kenny Rose, and Aaron and Amber Hopper. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2007 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Gary Putnam and Reverend Billy Ferguson presiding. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Eddie Braun, Jamie Tucker, Marty Mann, Greg Best, Perry and David Creson, Kevin Messer, and Randy Presnell. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you send cards or letters with your favorite memories of Frank.
