Frank Caldwell

September 6, 1924 — June 28, 2010

Waynesville, Frank Wayne Caldwell, age 86, of Ratcliffe Cove Road, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2010 at Canton Christian Convalescent Center. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Allen T. and Rachel Messer Caldwell. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Grace Cutshaw Caldwell, who died in 2007; a son, Harry David Caldwell; four brothers, Fred, Dennis, J. Hugh, and Larry Caldwell; and two sisters, Elsie and Opal Rice. He retired from R & M Construction Company (now RCF Construction) where he operated and transported heavy equipment for 20 years. He was a member of Calvary Road Baptist Church and a US Army veteran of World War II. Wayne enjoyed gardening and caring for his wife. He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Ann Phillips and her husband, Beecher, of Waynesville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 1, 2010 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Jim Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
