Whittier, Frank William Carnett, Jr., 77, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2015 at Harris Regional Hospital. A native of Gainesville and Jacksonville, Florida, he was the son of Frank Carnett and Constance Hansen. Frank retired from Anthem Blue Cross and was then employed at Chestnut Tree Inn in Cherokee. He was a member of Calvary Road Baptist Church and was a caring and compassionate man of God. In the eyes of friends and family, he was a walking testimony of the love of Jesus Christ. Frank was ordained as a deacon at First Baptist Church of Jacksonville and also served as a deacon for many years at Calvary Road where he also sang in the choir. Frank was an avid Florida Gator fan and enjoyed fishing, golf and tennis. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Oletha Carnett; two daughters, Kelley Wade and her husband, Bill, of Lawrenceville, Georgia and Linda Leopold and her husband, Roger of Toney, Alabama; two sisters, Mary Hall and her husband, Terry, of Jacksonville, Florida and Beth Gross and her husband, Perry, of Dacula, Georgia; four grandchildren, Taylor and Mandy Wade and Keith and Kaci Leopold; and several beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, October 5, 2015 at Calvary Road Baptist Church with the Reverend John Swanger, III, Reverend. J. D. Grant and Dr. Mark Sellers officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
