Frank Evans

Maggie Valley-Frank Albert Evans, age 82, wonderful father, grandfather, and friend went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 30, 2006. A native of Danville, VA, he was the son of the late Joseph Johnston Evans and Salley Smith Evans. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Ivy Marie Evans, who died on January 5, 2005; three brothers, Mack, Robert, and Henry Evans; and two sisters, Edna Southern and Hilda Baucom. He was a manager for C&P Telephone Company and retired in 1988 after 38 years of employment. He was a member of the National Guard and a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Frank was a master craftsman, and had a huge heart for helping others and was a very dedicated volunteer with Meals-on-Wheels. He also had a dry wit and sense of humor that will always be cherished by his family and friends. He is survived by a daughter, Jody Evans of Maggie Valley; a son, Shaun Evans of Roanoke, VA; a sister, Frances Hallum of Tulsa, OK; three grandchildren, Donna Poor of Atlanta, GA and Sterling and Morgan Evans of Roanoke, VA; a very special nephew, Spencer Allen of NC; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 11, 2006 at Water Rock Knob on the Blue Ridge Parkway with Reverend Steve Taylor and Reverend Chuck Sojack officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Antioch Baptist Church, 542 Ironduff Road, Waynesville, NC 28785.
