Waynesville, Frank Davis Medford, 76, of Iron Duff Community, died, Saturday, July 28, 2012 at his home. A native of Haywood County, Frank was the son of the late Joe D. and Lucy Chambers Medford. He graduated from Crabtree Iron Duff School. Frank attended Western Carolina University and then served two years in the United States Army where he was stationed in Japan. He worked as a dairy farmer. He was deeply loved, admired and respected by his wife of 53 years, his three children, his five grandchildren, and the rest of his family and his many, many friends. He was passionate about farming, Nascar racing, politics, animals, and especially family. Frank taught his children the importance of a good work ethic and the value of others. He always put others' needs above his own even up until his last breath. He was a true example to everyone of the way Jesus Christ calls us to live our lives loving others as He loves us. Surviving are his wife; Peggy Hendrix Medford of Iron Duff; a daughter, Dr. Marla M. Bell and her husband, Dr. Stephen Bell of Kennesaw, GA; a daughter, Penni M. Breivik and her husband, Kenneth Breivik, of Columbia, SC; a son, Charles Frank Medford and his wife, Sarah Shields Medford, of Iron Duff; his five grandchildren, Luke K. Breivik, Bethany L. Bell, Halston F. Medford, Matthew M. Breivik, and Cash W. Medford; and his sister, Joan M. Morrison, of Canton. Services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Antioch Baptist Church with Reverend Steve Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 Noon prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Antioch Baptist Church, 542 Iron Duff Road, Waynesville, NC 28785.
