Frank Morrison

Dr. Frank Crawford Morrison, age 78, died Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at Memorial Mission Hospital. He was born on July 20, 1928 in Jackson County to the late Frank C. Morrison, Sr. and Margaret Alley Stamey. He was preceded in death by a sister, Cora Elizabeth Morrison. A life long resident of Western North Carolina, he graduated from Waynesville High School in 1947, going on to Georgia Tech to study engineering before changing his career path to study medicine. Upon graduation from the University of North Carolina Medical School, he served in the United States Navy. He then returned to his native North Carolina and married Joan Medford on July 18, 1959. They moved from Waynesville to Canton where he practiced medicine for approximately 35 years. He was a member of Canton First Baptist Church. Dr. Morrison was loved for his wonderful sense of humor which he maintained until the end. His life long passion for the outdoors could be seen in his gardening and the many trees that he planted throughout his adult life. In addition to his wife of 48 years, he is survived by two daughters, Lee Hall and her husband, Vance, of Peachtree City, GA and Suzanne Supola and her husband, Miles, of Lake Oswego, Or; five grandchildren, Jordan, Alex and John Michael Hall and Carson and MacKinney Supola. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2007 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Bruce Cayton and Reverend Ed Oakley officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
