Frank Saunders

Waynesville-Frank E. Saunders, age 61, of 141 Kimberly Lane, died on Monday, October 22, 2007 at his residence. A native of Haywood County, he had also lived in Franklin for 18 years. He was the son of the late Gilberta Saunders Bryson and was also preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Jack Saunders. He was a US Air Force veteran, serving in Africa as a medic during the Vietnam War. He worked in the Shipping Department at Blue Ridge Paper for the past seven years. He enjoyed watching sports and attending his grandsons' sporting events and going fishing. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Karen Parris Saunders; two sons, Christopher Eugene Saunders and his wife, Rhonda, of Franklin and Michael Colt Saunders and his wife, Holly, of Allen, TX; two sisters, Joyce Cabe and her husband, Larry, of Waynesville and Louise Greene and her husband, Jimmy "Weasel", of Sylva; and three grandchildren, Clay Andrew Saunders, Coleman Christopher Saunders, and Lauren Elizabeth Saunders. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2007 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Pastor David Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Max and Steven Powell, Jason and Darrell Burris, Andy Ashe, and Kevin Brown. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening, and at other times, at the residence.
