Clyde, Frank Hartsell Valentine, age 91, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
A native of South Carolina and growing up in Maryville, Tennessee, he was a son of the late Arley and Maye Hartsell Valentine. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Valentine, who died in 2009; a sister, Hazel Betts; and three brothers, Roy, Earl and Carl Valentine. Frank was a financial advisor for 40+ years, retiring from Barclays and The Associates. He enjoyed playing golf at the Waynesville Country Club, working on his tractor and tending cows on the farm in Clyde. Frank belonged to a bowling league with Midway Bowling Alley, was a UT football fan and a Carolina Tarheels basketball fan.
Frank is survived by a daughter, Denise Pittillo, of Greenville, South Carolina; son, Steve Valentine, and his wife, Sparty, of Clyde; five grandchildren, Josh Pittillo (Beth), Rebecca Pittillo, Jake Pittillo (Amber), Katie Weden (Jason) and Will Valentine (Kelley); five great-grandchildren, Peyton, Riley, Avery, Olivia and Haydan; and a special friend, Bob Armstrong.
For the past several years, Frank was receiving care from Pendleton Manor. The family would like to thank the staff for his wonderful care.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
