Frank E. White "Loving Husband & Father" Candler – Frank Edwin White, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 after a long illness. A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late James E. and Edith Cole White. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Elmer White. Frank was loved by everyone who knew him. He had an infectious, outgoing personality that helped him make friends everywhere he went. Frank loved living in the mountains of Western North Carolina and enjoyed their beauty and always held a special place in his heart for his birth place at Mt. Sterling. He also loved the outdoors, especially camping and fishing with his friends and family. Frank was a proud United States Army veteran having served in the Korean Conflict and enjoyed celebrating Veterans Day on November 11 which was also his birthday. He was a member of Pole Creek Baptist Church where he previously served as a head usher and was active and loyal in his Sunday school class. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruth Murphy White; a daughter, Sandra White Santangelo and her husband, Richard, of Asheville; four brothers, Ralph White and his wife, Judy, Wayne White and his wife, Joyce, Ray White and his wife, Maxine, and Charles White all of Candler; three step-grandchildren, Jonathan and Daniel Santangelo, and Jennifer Bardoczi; and many nieces and nephews . Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2014 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dennis Thurman officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service.
