Frankie Buchanan Hyde, age 91, formerly of the Green Hill Community died peacefully on Monday, May 28, 2007, at Pigeon Valley Rest Home. She was a native of Jackson County and had resided in Haywood County for the past 70 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Louis "Jim" Hyde, who died in 1999; an infant daughter, Virginia Florence Hyde; a brother, Richard Buchanan; and a special granddaughter-in-law, Niki Cooke Hyde, who died in 2005. She was a 1935 graduate of Western Carolina Teachers College and was employed with Jackson and Haywood County Schools as a school teacher for 30 years. Mrs. Hyde was a member of West Canton Baptist Church for 70 years. She was past president of the Haywood Extension Homemakers and was a charter member of the West Canton Homemakers. She is survived by two sons, James Richard Hyde and his wife, Martha, of Pisgah Forest, and Michael Howard Hyde and his wife, Linda, of Canton; three sisters, Ila Mae Moore and Ruby King both of Canton, and Hazel Brooks of Sylva; two grandchildren, Reverend Jeremy Hyde of Laurinburg, NC, and Lynn Austin of Marshville, NC; and two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Lacey Austin. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Jeremy Hyde and Reverend W. O. "Bill" Henson officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home of Mike and Linda Hyde, 9 Elaine Drive, Canton. Memorials may be made to Baptist Children's Home of North Carolina, P. O.
