Frankie Lyerly

Frankie Lee McGaha Lyerly, age 93, died Thursday, July 17, 2008, at her residence. A native of Knox County, TN, she was the daughter of the late Cordelia McGaha. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Rex Lyerly, who died in 1972; a brother, Lattie McGaha; and a son, James Rex Lyerly, Jr. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Canton; the women's society, and the Fidelis Sunday School Class. Frankie enjoyed reading and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Smathers and her husband, Donald; a daughter-in-law, Imo Jean Lyerly all of Canton; six grandchildren, Susan Lyerly, Michael Lyerly, Deanna Thompson, Sandra Cale, Donna Beebe, and Tamara Worley; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 20, 2008, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Patricia Chaput officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
