Fred Carver

Asheville, Fred R. Carver, age 72, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2012 at Mission Hospital. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Fred Carver and Margaret Arrowood Carver Coward. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Quakenbush Carver, who died in 2008. He was a retired Sgt. 1st Class US Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam Era. He is survived by his stepfather, Robert Coward; one sister, Geane Birchfield, of Waynesville; four brothers, Tommy and Bobby Allen Carver, both of Waynesville, Bobby Coward, Jr. of Old Fort, and Billy Coward of Atlanta. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park with military rites provided by the US Army.
