Fred Coward

Waynesville-Fred Harris Coward, age 92, of Ratcliff Cove Road, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at Canton Christian Convalescent Center. A native of Madison County, he was the son of the late Pink and Rachel Harris Coward. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Plemmons Coward, who died in 2001; his daughter, Joyce Coward Jordan and her husband, Doyle H. Jordan; two brothers, James and Grady Coward; seven sisters, Daisy Case, Pearl Freeman, Selma Price, Georgia McElroy, Dorothy Fisher, and Effie and Essie Coward. He was a self-employed farmer and had worked at Dayco for 25 years as a press operator. He was a member of Lusk Chapel Baptist Church. He is survived by one granddaughter, Karen Denney, and her husband, Alan of Clyde. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2006 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Billy Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford-Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday prior to services.
