Fred Moreland Davis

Fred Moreland Davis, 79, passed away on March 12, 2024. He was born on December 14, 1944, to the late Lawrence and Anna Flynn Davis.  
 
Fred Moreland Davis spent an admirable 30 years serving with the NC State Highway Patrol as 1st Sergeant before retiring in 1995.  Throughout his lifetime, he embodied the values of service, dedication, compassion and commitment to his work.  His commitment to ensuring the safety of others was unwavering and deeply respected by all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
 
Aside from his illustrious career, Fred Moreland Davis had a passion for hunting and fishing. His skill as a gunsmith was unmatched, showcasing his meticulous attention to detail and craftsmanship in everything he pursued.
 
Among his proudest accomplishments were being the Founder of Parents Against Teen Suicide and establishing the Teen Education & Crisis Hotline. Through these initiatives, Fred Moreland Davis touched the lives of countless individuals, providing support and guidance during their most challenging times.
 
Fred Moreland Davis was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce Hembree Davis, who passed in 2020. He is also preceded in death by his daughter LeaAnn Davis.
 
Fred is survived by daughter Tina Honerkamp.  Also left to cherish his memories are his two grandchildren, Caleb Honerkamp (CeCe) and Hayden Honerkamp (Hayes). Additionally, he is remembered by two great-grandchildren.
 
In addition to his family, Fred Moreland Davis leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to making the world a better place. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
 
Fred Moreland Davis's memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. May his legacy continue to inspire acts of kindness and service in the community he held dear.
