Fred Meadows

Waynesville-Fred Meadows, age 74, of Beantown Road, died Friday, November 12, 2004 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Elbert and Lottie Franklin Meadows. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Kay Meadows and his half brother, Elbert Meadows, Jr. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a carpenter employed by Kenneth Muse. He enjoyed working on cars, his dogs, and gardening, and was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy Rhodarmer Meadows; three daughters, Shonda Jane Crisp and her husband, Mike, of Andrews, NC, Doris Lee Fernando and her husband, Joe, and Kathy Louise Meadows, both of Waynesville; two half sisters, Beulah Rathbone of Clyde and Wanda Wright of Hickory; a stepsister, Mary Ruth Singleton, of Melbourne, Florida; a brother, Dennis Meadows of New Jersey; and two half brothers, James Meadows of Hickory and Boyd Meadows of Waynesville; five grandchildren, Angela Evans, Tavis and Shawna Hyde, Heather Owen, and Roseanna Fernando; and two great grandchildren, Tyler and Isaac Evans. Graveside services were held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 14, 2004 at Shady Grove/Allison Cemetery with Reverend Sam Hayes and Reverend Ronald Green officiating. The family received friends from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. on Sunday prior to the service at Wells Funeral Homes and Cremation Services of Waynesville. Serving as pallbearers were Joe Fernando, Mike Crisp, Tavis Hyde, Conley Bradley, Dennis Franklin, and Neal Rhodarmer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wells Funeral Home.
