Waynesville-Fred "Runt" Parton, age 73, of Asbury Road, passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, December 18, 2007. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Merritt Parton, Sr. and Hattie Tucker Parton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Bradley and Edith Brown; and five brothers, James, Troy, Tucker, Merritt Jr. and twin Frank "Bubby" Parton. He retired in 1985 from Dayco after 33 years. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandsons and had a great sense of humor and quick wit. He is survived by one daughter, Kim Teague and her husband, Ricky, of Maggie Valley; two sons, Greg and Darin Parton, both of Waynesville; four sisters, Blanche Mehaffey, Louise Messer, Betty King, and Margaret James, all of Waynesville; seven grandsons, Heath and Brent Parton, Joshlyn and Ryan Teague; Britt, Baylee, and Bryce Parton; and one great grandson, Austin Teague. Private graveside memorial services will be held at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park with Reverend Bobby Rogers, Reverend Doug Henson and Reverend Jim Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 21, 2007 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
