Fred Wilson

Fred R. Wilson, age 80, of 100 Allen Drive, died Monday, September 2, 2002 at his residence.

He was a native of and had resided in Haywood County most of his life.
He was the son of the late Gomer and Mirah Worley Wilson. He was also preceded in death by a son, Steven D. Wilson who died in 1990; a sister, Gladys W. Palmer and three brothers, James, Nathan and Ray Wilson.

He was a retired employed with Champion International and was a United States Navy Veteran serving in the European Theater having participated in the Invasion of Normandy.

In addition to his wife of 57 years, Rosie Brown Wilson of Canton, he is survived by a sister, Grace Trantham of Crosby, TX.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 4th at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend James McElrath officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Newfound Road, Canton with military graveside honors conducted by the United States Navy. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
