Maggie Valley, Frederick Andrew "Fred" DiGiovanni, age 80, of Low Gap Road, died on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Jersey City, New Jersey, he had previously lived in Sarasota, Florida and had resided Haywood County for the past five years. He was the son of the late Armand and Pauline Kleyling DiGiovanni and was also preceded in death by one brother, Armand DiGiovanni. Fred was a US Marine veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in Japan. He was a mail carrier for the US Postal Service for 12 years and had owned his own electronics business. Fred enjoyed motorcycles and golf and was of the Luthern faith. He is survived by lifetime friend, Gladys B. DiGiovanni; one daughter, Laura Medley; two sons, Kent DiGiovanni and his wife, Doris, and Alan DiGiovanni and his wife, Martha; one sister, Marge Kannry; four grandchildren, Dustin Jackson Medley, Travis Joseph Medley, Casey Alan DiGiovanni, and Bobbi Ann DiGiovanni; and two great grandchildren, Kaely Ann and Randi Lynn Medley.
