Frederick Moore

November 5, 1930 — March 1, 2007

Waynesville, NC-Frederick W. Moore, age 76, of Old Country Road, died on Thursday, March 1, 2007 at his residence. A native of Macon, Georgia, but was raised in Miami, Florida. He was the son of the late Frederick and Mabel Willis Moore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Moore. He graduated in 1949 from Miami High School in 1949 and the University of Florida. He was a major in the US Air Force and flew fighter jets during the Korean Conflict and flew in supplies during the Vietnam War. He was employed as a pilot for National Airlines and later Pan American Airlines. Fred enjoyed riding his Honda Gold Wing, offshore fishing, and flying and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Waynesville. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Helen Brown Moore; one daughter, Lynn Bennett and her husband, John, of Gainesville, FL; three sons, Dan Moore and his wife, Laura, of Atlanta, GA, Larry Anders and his wife, Shaye, of Aliso Viejo, CA, and David Anders of Plantation, FL; one sister-in-law; four brother-in-laws; five grandchildren; and a niece and nephew. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Josh Cole officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058.
