Freida Hardin

Waynesville, Freida Ross Hardin, 80, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at The Homestead. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Dewey and Maggie Knight Ross. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Velda Hall and Lillian Rogers and four brothers, Sanford, J.D., Johnny and Gerald Ross. Freida was a former real estate broker at Main Street Realty and was a member of Green Valley Baptist Church. Freida was affectionately known to all as Mamaw. Her life was centered around her family, especially her cherished grandchildren. Mamaw will forever live in the hearts of her family and many loving friends. Freida is survived by a daughter, Karen Nelson Smith and her husband, Orie, of Daytona Beach, Florida; two sons, Ricky Dale and Larry Dean Nelson, both of Waynesville; a brother, Cecil Ross; and four grandchildren, Dr. Deanna Nelson and Damon Nelson and Jared and Mitchell Smith. A celebration of life will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Wells Events & Reception Center. Private burial will be held at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park.
