Gail Leatherwood

Waynesville, Gail Bradshaw Leatherwood, 75, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2017 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Craig and Gladys Justice Bradshaw and was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph R. Leatherwood, who died in 1990 and a daughter, Sally Jo Leatherwood. Gail was employed as a teacher with Haywood County School System and retired with 33-years-service. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Waynesville where she was a member of the choir. She was a charter member of the Hugh Rogers Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and served as Past Regent and Honorary Regent of the chapter. She also volunteered with the Friends of the Library. Gail is survived by a daughter, Suzanne Surrett (Harold) of Canton; two sisters, Linda Justice and Nancy Ferguson of Waynesville; two grandchildren, Melissa Clark (Josh) and Matthew Connor (Morgan Rogers); two great-grandchildren, Weston Clark and Wyatt Connor and a great-granddaughter due in September; a stepmother, Hazel Farmer Bradshaw; step-sister, Betty Joe Beasley (Michael); step-brother, Bart Campbell (Wanda) of Maggie Valley; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2017 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Sanford L. Giles, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home and at other times, at Gail's Home.
