Gary Moore

Spring Creek, John Gary Moore, age 55, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late John Denver and Georgia Lee Fish Moore. Gary will forever be remembered for his kindheartedness and giving nature. His passion in life was farming. He raised beef cattle, tomatoes, and tobacco and also did some logging. He loved his family and will be greatly missed. He was a member of Ball City Baptist Church in Spring Creek. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Janet A. Moore; a daughter, Jeanie Moore; two sisters, Edda Payne (Lee) of Clyde and Doris Shetley (Dennis) of Marshall; a special nephew, Ed Payne (April) of Clyde; other nieces and nephews, Tonia Payne, Bob Payne (Kelly), and Chris Shetley and Marty Shetley; several great nieces and nephews; and a special cousin, Mike Davis (Heather). A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, January 11, 2014 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Larry Sprouse officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home, and at other times, at the home of Lee and Edda Payne and Ed Payne, 36 Goldey Lane, Clyde. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Woody Cemetery Maintenance Fund, c/o Ed Payne, 54 Goldey Lane, Clyde, NC 28721.
