Clyde – Gary Wayne Owen, age 64, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2016. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he is the son of Bill and Betty Owen of Canton. He was employed as a crew leader with Evergreen Packaging and a member of Louisa Chapel United Methodist Church. Gary was a man who loved everyone he met. He cared for and loved his family and friends deeply and his precious grandchildren were the apple of his eye. A master collector and jack of all trades, Gary's collection of items was impressive and he had on-hand anything one could ever need. He was a caring man, always willing to help anyone in need and placed his family as a number one priority. Many of his most enjoyable times were spent outdoors. Caring for his many animals including his chickens, pigs and horses was special to him. He was most fond of visiting his house at Lake Chatuge and beach trips to Tybee Island. Gary will be deeply missed. In addition to his parents, he is survived by the love of his life, Theresa Lynn Owen Holland, three sons, Chadrick Wayne Owen and wife, Kym, of Franklin, Joshua Nathaniel Owen and wife, Brooke, of Clyde, and Andrew Tray Owen of Clyde; three sisters, Sheree Horton and husband, Dru, of Canton, Tina Lane and husband, Mark, of Simpsonville, South Carolina, and Louann Pressley and husband, David, of Canton; ten grandchildren, Hunter, Alexis, Zack, Bailey, Madison, Kendall and, Bentley and Joshua Owen, Kody Hall and Avery Reza; many nieces and nephews; and a special dog "Taz". Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, Waynesville, NC. Entombment will follow at the mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service in the Mausoleum Chapel.
