Gayle Patricia Hammeal

Gayle Patricia Hammeal passed away peacefully at her residence on April 17, 2024. She was born on March 22, 1946, in Plainfield, New Jersey, to her loving parents, Clarkson Maxwell Hammeal and Eleanor Ruh Hammeal.  Her parents moved her and her brother to Wethersfield, Connecticut in 1949 where they planted roots and thrived.  She loved the cold and that’s where her love for ice skating grew. 

Throughout her life, Gayle worked as a dedicated hairdresser for several years, using her talents to bring joy and confidence to those around her. Her creativity and passion for hairstyling touched the lives of many in the community.  In addition to people coming to her salon she would go visit clients in their homes for those unable to come to the salon.

In addition to her successful career, Gayle found solace and community in attending Life Church, where she nurtured her spiritual beliefs and formed cherished connections with others who shared in her faith.

Gayle is survived by her two daughters, Cristin Bramhall (Jim) and Robin Barreca; her brother Clark Hammeal (Vicki); as well as her four grandchildren: Coddington Bramhall, Michael Bramhall, Austin Bramhall (Maya Rivera), and Jerome Barreca. She also leaves behind two great-grandsons, Kaison Barreca and Kaden Bramhall and two nieces, Brandi Brummer (Bob) and their children, Boomer and Bailey and niece Brooke Weigert and her children, Michael and Maxwell.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Ms. Gayle on Saturday, May 4th, 2024, at Life Church of Waynesville, 601 Westwood Circle, Waynesville, NC  28786 at 3:30 p.m. 

At the request of the family please do not send flowers to the services, however in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Haywood Hospice and Palliative at 13 Haywood Office Park, Suite 107, Waynesville, NC 28785.  

Her warm smile, kind giving heart, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Gayle's legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
