Gedwin Allen

Canton - Gedwin Liston Allen, 84, of Canton passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Haywood Regional Hospital.  A native of Buncombe County, he was son of the late Paul Hamilton and Winfred Elizabeth Allen.

Gedwin proudly served in the US Army. He retired as a Relief Foreman from Champion International in 1998 after 31 years of service. He was a handyman and jack of all trades and enjoyed camping. He was a member of Faith Community Church. He was a founding member of North Canton Volunteer Fire Department.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 59 years, Barbara Pace Allen; two sons, Brian Allen and his wife, Lou Ann of Waynesville and Steve Allen and his wife, April Hyde Allen of Clyde; four grandchildren, Jacob Allen, Jessy Ward (Ethan), Hannah Rayburn (Talon) and Avery Allen Ledford and three great grandchildren, Ember, Banks and Ivy.

A funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2022, in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Matt Pruett officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Candler.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 until 3:30 p.m. prior to the service.

The care of Mr. Allen has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes Canton.
