Geneievie Overman

Geneievie Mabel Sutton Overman, "MAMAW', 85, departed this life and her spirit was received into the arms of our Lord on Monday, October 14, 2013. She was born June 5, 1928, originally of Haywood County, North Carolina and resided in Varina, Virginia, where she was cared for by her children and daughter-in-laws through a long battle with illness. Geneievie was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Grady Walker Overman; four brothers; one sister; and one great-great-grandchild. She is survived by five sons, Dennis, David, and Carroll Overman of Charles City, Billy Overman of Varina, and Vernon Overman of King William, Virginia; three daughters, Marion Gardner of Canton, Corrina Sherrill of Sylva, and Evelyn Hill of Waynesville; 25 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roy Sutton of Crabtree and Robert Sutton of Candler; along with many nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends. The family will receive friends in Virginia at Nelson Funeral Home from 4:00 until 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Her remains will then rest by her beloved husband's until the coming of our Lord in Upper Crabtree Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his Saints."
