Geneva Summey

Waynesville, Geneva E. Summey, age 90, of North Welch Street, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Skyland Care Center. A native of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Arlie and Brunettie Wykle Elders. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie "Monk" Summey, who died in 1991, as well as three brothers and three sisters. She worked as a spinner in the cotton industry and later worked at Canton Nursing Home before retiring. She enjoyed square dancing with her husband and was a member of Dix Creek Baptist Church in Jackson County. She is survived by three stepdaughters and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 22, 2011 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Gary Putnam officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
