Geneva Rask

Geneva Burnette Rask, age 88, of 171 Lakeside Drive died Thursday, April 14, 2005 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Haywood County and the daughter of Clint and Inez West Burnette. She was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Rask who died in 2001 and three brothers, Doc, Eldon and Wade Burnette. She was a homemaker and member of Perth Amboy First Baptist Church in New Jersey. She was a star basketball player for Bethel High School and the American Enka plant in the industrial league. In addition to her husband of 62 years, Erv Rask, she is survived by two daughters, Joyce Berry and her husband, Daniel of Canton and Donna Rask; two sons, Bob Rask and his wife, Palma of Milltown, NJ and Fred Rask and his wife, Pam of Clyde; a brother, Jerry Burnette of Canton; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2005 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services with the Reverend James Hart officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the services. At other times, the family will be at the home. Memorials may be made to Burnette Cove Baptist Church Building Fund, 193 Burnette Cove Road, Canton, NC 28716 or to one's favorite charity.
