George Austin

Waynesville-George Wesley Austin, 90, of 65 Church Street, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2006 at his residence. A native of Cussetta, Georgia, son of the late George and Eugenia Davison Austin. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Lillian Austin, who passed away in June 2004, one daughter, Shirley Smith in October 2005, two brothers, Blanchard and Bob Austin, three sisters, Mary Williams, Carrie Carlan, Georgia Cabe. He was the owner of Austin Paint Center of Waynesville, attended East Waynesville Baptist Church, served in the US Army between 1946-1949 and was a member of the VFW of Waynesville. He is survived by his one daughter, Pam Hill, and her husband Mike, of Waynesville; one son, Jerry Austin, and his wife Renee, of Bowdon, GA; one son-in-law, Charles Smith II, of Arden, NC; one sister Anne Moore, of Waynesville; one brother, William Austin, of Buena Vista, GA; six grandchildren, Kevin and George Austin, Diana Hosse, Cody Smith, DeeAnna Clarke, Wes Hill; two great-grandchildren, Harrison and Holden Hosse, as well as other Relatives and Friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Homes with Reverend Josh Walls officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00p.m. on Monday at the funeral home and other times will be at the residence of Pam Hill at 31 Indian Springs Drive, Waynesville.
