George Hooper

November 1, 1939 — March 10, 2012

Waynesville, George Ross Hooper, age 72, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Mountain Hart Retirement. A native of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Carl David and Wilma Moss Hooper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lou Hooper, who died in 2006. Ross was in the Coast Guard and retired from Champion International in 1999. His three favorite hobbies were fishing, fishing and more fishing in the Nantahala River. He is survived by two daughters, Ginger Hooper of Waynesville and Julie Cardinal and her husband, Leo, of Atlanta, Georgia; a son, Jeffrey Hooper and his special friend, Cheryl Smith, of Atlanta, Georgia; a sister, Carlene Madison and her husband, R.L., of High Point, NC and a brother, Gary Hooper of Waynesville. A private family service will be held. Memorials may be made to Hazelwood Baptist Church, 265 Hazelwood Avenue, Waynesville, NC 28786.
