George Howell

George Thomas "Tommy" Howell, age 77, of Tommy Howell Road died Friday, December 4, 2009, at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Hamilton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Paul Jennings and Rebecca Little Howell. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Judith Ann Howell who died in 2003 and two sisters, Katherine Ramsey and Anne Howell. He retired from Champion International with 38 years of service as a stock tender and was a member of Welcome Hill Baptist Church. Tommy was a big sports fan with a deep passion for the Duke Blue Devils. He enjoyed working outside and playing Farmville on facebook. He was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by three sons, Stephen K. Howell of Canton, Phillip M. Howell and his wife, Lori, of Baxter, IA, and Mark R. Howell and his wife, Joann, of Little Rock, AK; a daughter, Paula Fish and her husband, Donald, of Canton; a sister, Doris Jean Duvall and her husband, Ernest, of Clyde; a brother, Jarrett Howell of Clyde, an uncle, Arnold Howell of Canton; ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 7, 2009, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Carl Chastain officiating. Burial will follow at Sunny Point Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at Tommy's residence, 156 Tommy Howell Road, Canton.
