Waynesville—George "Junebug Green" Hullender, age 61, of 1030 Scenic Circle Drive, died on Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late George and Lucille Green Hullender and was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Lee Roy Green, who died in 1998; one brother, Johnny Mack Green; one sister, Nellie Sue Green; and one half brother, William Hullender. He was a US Army veteran during the Vietnam Era and served in Germany. He was a self-employed truck driver and retired in 1998. He loved his entire family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved music and played many different instruments. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Peggy Justice Hullender; one daughter, Darlene Hullender Postell and her husband, Carroll, of Waynesville; one son, Darin Junior Hullender, of Canton; four half sisters, Elaine Whisnant and Loretta Lynn Whitworth, both of Shelby, NC, Susie Hullender of Fallston, NC and Anita Hullender of Forest City, NC; two brothers, Danny Green and his wife, Debra, of Canton, and Kenneth Gibson and his wife, Ziz, of Potlatch, ID; two half brothers, Bobby Hullender of Shelby, NC and Pete Messer of Fletcher, NC; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2008 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Jerry Nelson and Reverend Daryl Hannah officiating. Burial will follow at Parker Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home, and at other times, 1337 Pigeon Road, Waynesville.
