George Travis Moore

George Travis Moore passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Magnolia Gardens Nursing Center in Thomasville, North Carolina. He was born in Haywood County, North Carolina on 30 November 1935 to the late Thomas Lee Moore and the late Mary Ina Ledford Moore.

George moved to Winston-Salem, North Carolina as a young man where he worked as a machinist until his retirement. George loved working around his home and growing a small garden. He also loved traveling to the mountains of western North Carolina where he grew up and spent time there.

George is survived by one son Rickey Moore; two grandchildren Jonathan Moore and Amy Moore; four brothers David Moore, Andrew Moore, Charles Moore, and Kenneth Moore; four sisters Ruth Messer, Patsy Weaver, Ethel Moore, and Arlene Price; he is also survived by a special friend, Fran Keller.

In addition to his parents George was preceded in death by one daughter Doris Ann Moore; two sisters Mary Moore Speagle and Bessie Moore Payne; a brother Samuel (Sammy) Moore; five half-brothers William, Fred, Junior, T L. and Jesse; two half-sisters, Grace Moore Waters and Pauline Moore Cashwell.

The family will have a private get-together to celebrate George’s life.

The care of Mr. Moore has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville
