George "Nickie" Dennis Williamson

George “Nickie” Dennis Williamson, 88, of Canton, passed on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Haywood Regional Medical Center. Nickie was the son of late George Jarrett Williamson and Mary Agnes Allen Williamson. Nickie was also procced in death by his son, Bryan Williamson (2022). 

Nickie proudly served in the US Army during Korea from 1956 to 1958. He then went on to work at BASF in Enka where he worked for 30 years and retired in 1990. Nickie was a member of Rockwood United Methodist Church where he enjoyed working on the Building Teams, raising Christmas trees, landscaping, taking camping trips, and traveling with friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Juanita JoAnn Cooke Williamson; sons, Brett Williamson (Pam) of Dallas, TX, and Dr. Barry Williamson (Heather) of Lumberton; NC and 6 grandchildren.  

A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, 2024, in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home, 3715 Asheville Highway, Canton, North Carolina with Pastor Eric Hill, Reverend Steve Miller and Reverend Don Turman officiating. The family will receive family and friends at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. prior to the service.
