Candler-George William Price - age 85 died Sunday, July 9, 2006 at Mountain Area Hospice Solace Center.<br><br>He was a native of Haywood County but had resided in Buncombe County for a number of years. He was a son of the late Earl W. and Etta Fousler Price. Mr. Price was employed by Canton Fire Department for 17 years and retired in 1986. He was also a member of Canton Central United Methodist Church. Mr. Price was a member of the Champion fast pitch softball team and was inducted into the softball hall of fame. He was an athletic director of the YMCA in Canton and contributed to the youth of Canton. Mr. Price was a United States Army veteran of World War II having received the American Theater Campaign Medal, Eamet Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, Bronze Star Medal Go 103 76th Div 45, Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal.<br><br>He is survived by his wife, Winfred Calvin Price; two daughters, Lynn Price Holbrook, and her husband, Mike, and Bobbie Price Radford, and her husband Butch, all of Candler; one son, Keith William Price, of Candler; two sisters, Mary Sellars, of Canton, and Virginia Long, of Clyde; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.<br><br>Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2006 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend David Christy officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
