George Quinn, Sr.

Waynesville, George Robert Quinn, Sr., age 87, of Dolan Road, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 23, 2011. A native of Hudson County, New Jersey, he was a former resident of Port Richey, Florida before moving to Haywood County 12 years ago. He was the son of the late George and Mary Elizabeth Ryan Quinn and was also preceded in death by a brother, John Quinn and one sister, Eileen Gibbs. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. George served in the New Jersey State Police for over 31 years and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel as the Deputy Superintendent. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Theresia Meyer Quinn; two sons, George Quinn, Jr. and Clark Quinn and his wife, Kelly; and one daughter, Elsie Allen and her husband, Brian. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesville with Father Larry LoMonaco officiating.
