George Rudolph "Rudy" Walker

Hendersonville

George Rudolph "Rudy" Walker, 75, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Friday, December 27, 2024, at Pardee Hospital of Hendersonville, NC.

He was a native to Rocky Mount, NC, but later resided in Hendersonville, NC. Rudy was the son of the late James Franklin and Virginia (Carroll) Walker, in addition to his parents he is preceded in death by brothers, Ray and Donald Walker. 

Rudy's educational journey concluded at Northern Nash High School, where he graduated in the class of 1968. Shortly thereafter, he answered the call to serve our grateful nation by enlisting in the United States Air Force in February 1969. Rudy's sense of duty and commitment to helping others became apparent early on and would shape the course of his life. Following Rudy's military service, he dedicated himself to a rewarding career as a firefighter with the Rocky Mount Fire Department, serving with pride for twenty years. He was immensely proud of his role, embodying the core values of courage and services that defined the profession. Those who worked alongside him remember his unwavering dedication and camaraderie built through shared experiences and challenges. Rudy was not only a devoted firefighter, but also a loving husband, father and grandfather. He found his greatest joy in spending time with his loved ones, creating lasting memories that reflected the deep love he held for his family. His family was the center of his universe, and he cherished every moment spent in their company. He leaves behind a solid foundation of love and memories that will forever remain in the hearts of his family. Rudy was a remarkable individual whose impact will not be forgotten, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Left to cherish Rudy's memory are his loving wife of forty-five years Eileen Burgin Walker; son Aaron Walker; daughter Elizabeth Walker (Jose Delgado); granddaughter Alexandria Delgado; brother Jimmy (Jo Carol) Walker of Lexington, SC; sister-in-law Alma Walker of Rocky Mount, NC; brother-in-law Dick Burgin of Vilas, NC, and many beloved nieces and nephews. 

Per Rudy's wishes there no scheduled services. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation

The family would like to give special thanks to the Charles George VA Medical Center and Pardee Hospital for the wonderful care that was given to Rudy.
