Georgia Gillett

Waynesville, Georgia Beck Gillett, age 80, went home to our Lord and Savior, on February 18, 2011. Georgia was born on June 6, 1930 to the late E. Clingman and Mary Lee Parker Beck. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Latham Gillett; a son, Ralph Gillett; and three sisters, Mae Burr Beck, Anna Lou James and Rena (R.A.) Mehaffey. Georgia was called "Nanny" by many children. She was a member of Woodland Baptist Church. She is survived by her blessed children, Carolyn S. Gaddy and Ronnie Gillett and his wife, Bobbie, all of Waynesville; a sister, Joyce Clark and her husband, Lloyd; two brothers, E.C. Beck, Jr., and his wife, Jamie and Ernest Beck and his wife, Kathy; daughter in-law, Joan Gillett, of Bryson City; special granddaughter, April Gillett; Marsha Northrup; great-granddaughter, Abigale Northrup; one step-granddaughter, Hollie Hughes; great-granddaughters, Hallie, Hope, and Hannah Hughes; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Jay Jones and Reverend Alan Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
