Georgia Mae Haynes Greene, age 92, passed away on Monday, July 2, 2012 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Posey and Bertha Davis Haynes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Wilson Greene, who died in 1999; a brother, Alvin Haynes; four infant daughters; and three sisters, Kate Arrington Parker, Jonell "Nellie" Graham, and Katherine "Dorothy" Hohstadt. She was a very dedicated member of Clyde Church of God. Georgia was a very talented seamstress and sewed many costumes for local clogging teams. She was deeply devoted to her family, cherishing all the times she shared with them. Her family was indeed the light of her life. She is survived by one daughter, Loretta Ewart and her husband, Kenneth, of Clyde; two sons, James E. Greene and his wife, Ginger, of Clyde, and Carroll Greene of Canton; five sisters, Mary Warren of Newport News, Virginia, Lorene Sutton and her husband, Junior, of Clyde, Jean Caldwell, Martha Greer and her husband, Doug, and Joann McCracken, all of Waynesville; a sister-in-law, Leona Haynes; two brothers, Jack Haynes and his wife, Helen, of Clyde, and Charles Haynes and his wife Ruby of Waynesville; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Clyde Church of God with the Reverend Michael Nations and Reverend Alan Greene (grandson) officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
