Georgia Davis Price Georgia Davis Price, of 917 Rockhold Drive in Asheville, died on Friday, February 25, 2005 at Mountain Area Hospice Solace in Asheville following an extended illness. Mrs. Price was born on June 4, 1925 in the Cove Creek Community of Haywood County. She is the daughter of Hobart Davis and Gaye Crawford Davis who preceded her death. She is the granddaughter of Reverend Douglas "Uncle Doug" Davis and Georgia Noland Davis, and Erastus and Jenettia Medford Crawford. She was the proud namesake of her grandmothers. She is preceded in death by her husbands Jack Ray, who died in 1969, and Milton Price, who died in 1989. Her brother, Joe Burnette Davis, died in 1949, and a grandchild, Russell Jack died in 1970. Mrs. Price was also a member of Sunrise Baptist Church in Asheville, and a graduate of Crabtree Iron Duff School. She is survived by two sons, Ronald Dale Ray, and his wife Paula, of Hendersonville; and Dan Keith Ray of Asheville; one brother, Maxwell D. Davis of Iron Duff; grandchildren, Rhonda Etheredge, and her husband Mark, of Ozark, Alabama; Ricky, Vicky, and Miranda of Phenix City, Alabama; and Paul Edward of Hendersonville, NC, 6 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. In 1996 The Institute at Biltmore was first established At Mars Hill College in her honor and in memory of her late husband Jack Ray. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 28, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home, 296 North Main Street in Waynesville. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 1:00 to 2:45 p.m. At other times the family will be at the residence of Dan Keith Ray, 400 Sunrise Summit in Asheville. Burial will follow at the Antioch Baptist Church on Iron Duff Road in Haywood County. Officiating at the service will be Reverend William Higgins and Reverend Ted Reeves. The eulogy will be delivered by Sharon Allred Decker, Chair of the Board of Directors of The Institute at Biltmore. Graveside services will be conducted by Reverend Steve Taylor of Antioch Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers include members of the Board of Directors, special friends, and staff of the Institute at Biltmore. These include: Sharon Allred Decker, John F.A.V. Cecil, Bart Fisher of Washington, D.C., Louis Bissette, James Daniels, Dr. A. Max Lennon, Glen Wilcox, Sr., Alan Oocumma, Richard Vander Veen of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Warren Riley of Los Angeles, California, Mack B. Pearsall. Ashby Brunson, Janette Harvey, Robert Goodale of Raleigh, NC, Marianne Soufas, M.D. and Myra Goodwin. Pallbearers include her dear friends: Tim Welch, Michael Williams, Matthew Clark, Christopher Mello, Fred Friedman and Robert G. Miller of Greenville, SC, Ernie Howard of Ajijic, Mexico, and Cameron Delancey of Washington, D.C. Memorial gifts may be made to the Jack Ray and Georgia Davis Price Fund, c/o One West Pack Square, Suite 1505, Asheville, NC 28801; or to the Building Fund of the Antioch Baptist Church, 542 Iron Duff Road, Waynesville, NC 28785.
