Georgie Mills

Waynesville, Georgie Muriel Blanton Mills, 94, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at her residence.

A native of Jackson County, she was a daughter of the late Houston and Bessie Bryson Blanton.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Mills of 64 years who died in 2010; four sisters and five brothers.  Georgie graduated from Sylva High School.  She was a member of Pleasant Balsam Missionary Baptist Church and worked for the Haywood County Schools as a cafeteria worker.

Georgie is survived by two daughters, Beverly Griffin, of Whittier and Deborah McAllister (Tom), of Waynesville; five grandchildren, Kip Griffin (Tammy), Scott Griffin, John Fields (Morgan), Amber Griffin (TJ) and Josh Fields (Haley); 11 great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Brooke, KJ, Madison, Nick, Alexis, James, Ashelyn, Lawson, Isaiah and Jeremiah; and eight great-great-grandchildren, Abbie, Braydon, Peyton, Adley, Wesley, Miley, Brylon and Colt.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 2, 2022 at Pleasant Balsam Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Brandon Mendez, Reverend John Swanger and Reverend Josh Fields officiating.  Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church.

The care of Mrs. Mills has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
