"Volunteer Firefighter" Canton – Gerald Vincent Hall Sr., age 79, of the Center Pigeon Community, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at the Homestead. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Raymond Jackson and Emma Lou Whitted Hall. Vincent was a United States Army veteran serving in Korea. He later was employed with Champion International and retired after almost 40 years of service. He was a member of Crestview Baptist Church and a member of the Center Pigeon Volunteer Fire Department. Vincent possessed a love for giving to others, serving his community through building wheelchair ramps for those in need, and delivering hot meals through the Haywood County Meals on Wheels. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Emma Patterson Hall; a daughter, Lynnette Cole and her husband, Brooks, of Lexington; three sons, Danny Hall and his wife, Jean, Keith Hall and his wife, Dedee, and Gerald V. Hall, Jr. and his wife, Annette, All of Canton; four sisters, Catherine Rathbone, of Candler, Sue Oates, of Bethel, Dorotha Towe, of Candler, and Janice Boyd of Waynesville; one brother, Raymond Hall Jr., of Candler; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2015 at Crestview Baptist Church with the Reverend Dan Page and the Reverend Ned Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park with military honors conducted by US Army. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service.
