Gerald Stepp

April 29, 1935 — May 15, 2005

Canton- Gerald Jackson Stepp- age 70 of Harry Rogers Road died Sunday, May 15, 2005 at the Asheville VA Medical Center. He was a native of Swain County but had lived most of his life in Haywood County. He was a son of the late Neal and Willa Bell Wiggins Stepp and was also preceded in death by three brothers; Charles, Don and Ira Stepp. Mr. Stepp was employed by the Pisgah Inn for 20 years and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He was a loving, husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Romaine Rogers Stepp; one daughter and her husband, Sherry and Alan Barton of Canton; one sister, Margaret Hewitt of Greer, SC and two grandchildren, Misty and Joshua Barton. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2005 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home & Cremation Services with the Reverend Dr. Roy Kilby and Reverend G.W. Jameson officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery with military honors conducted by the VFW and American Legion. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence of the daughter, Sherry Barton, 3103 Pisgah Drive, Canton.
