Geraldine Bowditch Baird, 76, of Asheville died Sunday, May 22nd. A native of Asheville, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Essie Clara Bowditch Alexander. She was married to the late John W. Baird for 32 years. Geraldine was employed with the Vanderbilt Shirt Company until 1974. Her hobbies were knitting and crocheting. A member of Bethel Seventh-day Adventist Church, she served as Head Usher, Deaconess, Pathfinder leader, and Seniors Progressive Club President.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Loretta Durant and Brenda McMorris and step-mother, Rachel Hill.
Geraldine is survived by her daughters, Meredith Alexander, Joann Bates and Sharon Brown; son, Joseph Tarrant and wife, Danita; brother, Johnny McMorris; sister, Dallas Jones; aunt, Elizabeth Campbell; special relatives John and Sherman Williams; 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, May 27th at Bethel Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor Roberto Guerrero officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Candler. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 26th from 7-8PM at Bethel Seventh-day Adventist Church.
