Geraldine Hoglen

Asheville- Geraldine Smith Hoglen - age 67 died Monday, August 14, 2006 at St. Joseph Hospital. She was a native of Haywood County and a daughter of the late Lily Mae Mathis Green and step-father, Homer Green and Carl Columbus Smith and step-mother, Lela Stroupe Smith. Mrs. Hoglen was preceded in death by a step-sister, Mary Bradford. Geraldine was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and she loved Bingo and jigsaw puzzles. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan as well as a local Asheville hockey and Carolina Hurricanes supporter. She is survived by two sons, Bobby Dean Hoglen, and his wife, Cathy and Lloyd Wayne "Scooter" Hoglen all of Candler; one sister, Judy Smith, of Asheville; one brother, Herman Columbus Smith, of Asheville; three grandchildren, Jessica, Amanda and Zachary Hoglen, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 18, 2006 at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with Reverend Bobby Winebarger, Sr. and Reverend Bobby Winebarger, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Wells Funeral Home in Canton.
